Registration for the 2024 ILCA 4 Youth European Championships & Open European Trophy closed yesterday, with over 400 sailors successfully signed up.

Among them, 241 boys and 165 girls from 34 nations, including 32 European countries, will compete on the water. The event will take place at Yacht Club Burja Izola, Slovenia, from April 5th to 12th, 2024.


About the ILCA 4 Youth class

The ILCA 4 Youth class plays a crucial role in nurturing young sailors and fostering their passion for the sport of sailing. As the entry-level class within the ILCA fleet, it provides a platform for sailors to develop their skills in a competitive yet supportive environment.

By focusing on youth sailors, EurILCA aims to helps to cultivate the next generation of talented athletes who may eventually progress to higher-level competitions.

Through participation in events such as the ILCA 4 Youth European Championships, sailors gain valuable experience, build camaraderie with peers from around the world, and contribute to the vibrant and dynamic sailing community.

Overall, the ILCA 4 Youth class plays a vital role in shaping the future of sailing by inspiring and empowering young sailors to pursue their passion for the sport.


EurILCA Solidarity Programme

Building upon the aforementioned, the 2024 ILCA 4 Youth Europeans will also feature the seventh EurILCA Solidarity Programme, providing free entry, coaching by Olympic sailors, and cloth sponsoring for 27 selected sailors from European countries with low participation. Managed by Ms. Burcu Algon Giorgianni, the programme is generously supported by Rooster Sailing, SailCoach and Charter Boat.
