The 2021 EurILCA Senior European Championships & Open European Trophy concluded today in Varna, Bulgaria, with one last race for each class.
The racing was scheduled to start at 11:00 but the wind conditions weren’t proper so the action was delayed for more than one hour on shore. Only at 12:20 the Race Committee could ask the ILCA 7 Gold fleet and the ILCA 6 Women’s fleets to launch their boats. ILCA 7 Silver and ILCA 6 Men’s did it 30 minutes later.
Once on course, the wind conditions were tough again: strong wind and big swell for concluding the championship the same way it was during all 6 days, windy, wavy and cold. At least we had no rain today!
After all four fleets completed their 10th race, there was still time for a last one so the RC started procedure for the ILCA 7 Gold fleet before meeting the last warning signal limit of 15:00, but the full fleet went over the line so that marked the end of this thrilling Senior European championships.
